Marc also become the youngest artist to be awarded The Council of Fashion Designer's of America's (CFDA) Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent, the Nobel prize of the fashion industry.
More recently, in 1999, Marc was named CFDA's Accessory Designer of the Year. We can be sure that in the future, more accolades will be granted him, and that he will continue to astonish us with his work.
Marc's abilities garnered him the attention of industry insiders. He was granted a position at the celebrated Perry Ellis design house, and created a highly successful grunge style. Although this product was successful, Marc was kicked out because his work clashed with house's image. Never daunted, Marc continued to create and gain supporters and fans, finally launching the highly sought after Marc by Marc Jacobs brand, which includes the prestigious Marc Jacobs handbags. Currently Marc is Louis Vuitton's creative director.
Marc introduced his hallmark Marc Jacobs handbags collection in 2000. They dreaded boutiques and every other place that called attention to their shape and size. They preferred to be invisible because of the numerous heartaches they've had due to taunts from both friends and family about their ugly bulky size.
The stores and outlets didn't help issues either. They always had a habit of having very thin ladies as sales persons. These lot who had always been praised for their great shape have grown accustomed to showing their disdain for theplus size.
And, least I forget, their section was somewhere at the back of the store where they won't scare away better looking customers. Many businesses still run theirplus size departments this way.
Bad as it was, the plus sized accepted their sentence without protesting. They accepted this conspiracy without a contest. The worst of designs were for them. It seemed like only designers who lacked ability undertook their design. Whereas designs are made to enhance looks, their designers consistently preferred styles that did all but enhance their appearance.
That was the norm until a few savvy business persons began to changed things. Perhaps it was the intervention of fate that made Delta Burke, a former beauty queen, become plus sized. Perhaps because she knew that dresses were made to enhance looks from her stint as a beauty queen, she started a line of tastefully designed dresses especially for theplus size . She made huge profits and since folks go wherever money goes, a lot of other enterprises started attending to the specific needs of this formerly disregarded group.
J. Jill, Plus Size, Lane Bryant and others brought in innovations that gave shape to the most off shape. There was a massive departure from the jute sack designs that these group had been condemned to in the past. These designs used the ingenuity of color combinations, darts, packets and other options to give life to their innovations.
So who says it is a crime to be larger? And who says that looking trendy is only for skinny teenagers? The plus size women now have options that let them bring their variety into the fashion window. Thank goodness for whoever first thought up the idea of giving theplus size ranges to look great in. After all, sooner or later most of us will add some pounds especially those of us on the fringes of slim. And who wouldn't at 50 years plus?

Whats that tiny little thing you just paid all that money for? Just when we thought bikinis could not get any smaller, a new fashion is exploding onto the market called the mini-micro bikini. Both the top and the bottom have almost no coverage at all for your nipples, buttocks, and crotch. Almost the entire body is exposed, leaving very, very little to the imagination. This is a very daring and sexy look that is hitting the beach scene. Unfortunately, not many of us have the figure to look flattering in such abikini.
Pushing the envelope even further, some of the mini-micro bikinis available are made of a sheer material that can be seen through when the sun shines at the right angle and when the suit is wet. While this might be an excitingbikini to wear for attention and showing off your assets, there is a controversy about such swimwear being allowed in public areas.
Most beaches do not enforce any rules regarding the size of your swimwear. However, more and more public swimming pools are starting to due to complaints from parents. These parents think it is in poor taste, especially when they are trying to enjoy a day at the pool with their children. Those wearing such bikinis feel their rights are being violated. After all, they are wearing a bathing suit.
Another area of controversy is that the swim suit line really only works for extremely small people.
